Karolina Muchova vs Coco Gauff: Prediction and Betting Tips – July 9, 2026
Wimbledon is nearing its conclusion, with the women’s semifinals set to be played on July 9. Here is my prediction for the match between Karolina Muchova and Coco Gauff.
Karolina Muchova
The experienced Czech athlete is having a strong season, having returned to the top 10 and currently holding the ninth spot in the rankings. Muchova also boasts tournament victories in Doha and Bad Homburg, a semifinal in Miami, and a final in Stuttgart.
At Wimbledon, she defeated Russia’s Zakharova and China’s Zhang by identical scores of 6-3, 6-2. Next, she overcame Sawanngaev from Thailand – 6-2, 7-6. In the fourth round, Muchova prevailed in a Czech derby against Krejcikova – 7-5, 5-7, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, she beat former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka – 7-6, 6-4. Muchova has never won a major, though she has reached a final once.
Coco Gauff
High expectations always accompany the American, who is just 22 years old but has been among the top tennis players for quite some time. She currently holds the world No. 7 ranking. Although Gauff has played well this season, she has not claimed any titles, though she did reach the finals in Miami and Rome.
Gauff is the only one among this year’s Wimbledon semifinalists to have previously won Grand Slam tournaments—she has two. Traditionally, grass has not been her strongest surface, so reaching the semifinals here is an excellent result for her.
Gauff began her campaign with a win over Germany’s Korpatsch – 6-2, 6-1. All her subsequent matches went to three sets: she narrowly defeated Argentina’s Sierra – 6-3, 3-6, 7-6. In the third round, she got past fellow American Liu – 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. She had to show her fighting spirit against Switzerland’s Bencic – 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The quarterfinal saw a tough all-American battle with Pegula – 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Head-to-Head
In their head-to-head encounters, Gauff holds a significant advantage – 6:1. All six of the American’s victories came on hard courts, while Muchova’s only win came on clay in their most recent meeting.
Prediction
Bookmakers have not named a clear favorite in this matchup, despite Gauff’s considerable head-to-head advantage. Muchova has shown strong form on grass. This match promises to be interesting and closely contested, with the outcome open either way. I believe a bet on total games over 21.5 at odds of 1.66 is reasonable here. As a reminder, the other semifinal will see Kostyuk face Noskova.
