How RatingBet Predictions Are Made

RatingBet publishes predictions based on two different approaches: mathematical analysis and expert analysis. Each method looks at a match from a different angle, but both are designed to give readers more context before they make their own decisions.

This page explains how our mathematical predictions work, how our expert predictions are prepared, and how we track results over time.

How Mathematical Predictions Work

Mathematical predictions compare bookmaker odds with historical results from matches where similar odds were available, rather than relying on an individual analyst's assessment.

The basic principle is to compare the probability implied by the current odds with the historical performance of similar odds.

For example, if a bookmaker offers an outcome at a particular price, that price can be converted into an implied probability. RatingBet then looks at historical matches with comparable odds and calculates how often the same type of outcome occurred.

The process can be simplified as:

Odds → Implied Probability → Similar Historical Odds → Historical WinRate → Mathematical Prediction

This approach is based on historical results rather than an author's interpretation of the individual match.

Math Predictions can cover a wide range of markets, including 1X2, Over/Under, Both Teams to Score, Half Time/Full Time, Asian Handicap, Double Chance, Correct Score, Corners, Cards and other available markets.

The purpose is not to suggest that historical results guarantee what will happen in the next match. Instead, the figures show how comparable situations have performed in the past.

You can find these predictions in our Math Predictions section, and review the wider historical WinRate figures behind them on our WinRate page.

How Our Experts Analyse a Match

Expert predictions are prepared by RatingBet authors who analyse the specific match and select a betting outcome based on the information available before the game.

There is no single checklist that applies identically to every prediction. Football, basketball and tennis require different types of analysis, and individual authors may also have different areas of expertise.

Depending on the match, an expert may consider:

  • Recent form - how the team or player has performed in recent games.
  • Match statistics - relevant numbers that help explain current performance.
  • Team and player news - injuries, suspensions and other information that could affect the lineup or performance.
  • Previous meetings - results and patterns from earlier encounters when they are relevant to the upcoming match.
  • Playing styles - how the strengths and weaknesses of the opponents may interact.
  • Possible lineups - expected starters and potential changes that could influence the game.
  • Match context - the importance of the fixture, competition situation and other circumstances surrounding it.
  • Betting markets and odds - the available markets and prices are considered when selecting the final pick.

Not every factor carries the same weight in every prediction. An analyst may focus on different information depending on the sport and the particular matchup.

From Analysis to Our Pick

A RatingBet expert prediction follows a simple progression from analysis to a final betting selection.

The article first provides the relevant match analysis, followed by supporting statistics and trends. Where relevant, possible lineups are included to give readers a clearer picture of the expected teams or players.

The author then reaches a conclusion and presents the Our Pick section, where the selected outcome is clearly identified.

This means that the pick is not presented separately from the analysis. Readers can see the reasoning and supporting information that led to the author's selection.

How We Track Prediction Results

Publishing a prediction is only part of the process. RatingBet also tracks the results of published tips so readers can review how predictions have performed over time.

Our author profiles provide statistics that help put individual results into context, including:

  • WinRate - the percentage of predictions recorded as successful.
  • Won/Total - the number of won predictions compared with the total number recorded.
  • Avr. Coef. - the average coefficient of the predictions.
  • Void - predictions that are excluded from the result because the relevant event or bet is void.
  • Active tips - predictions that have not yet received a final result.

These figures can be viewed alongside the author's published predictions rather than being treated as a standalone number.

Meet the People Behind Our Predictions

RatingBet predictions are written by individual authors with different backgrounds, experience and areas of expertise.

This matters because an expert prediction is not generated from a single editorial formula. Authors can approach matches differently depending on their knowledge of a competition, sport or statistical area.

Their profiles allow readers to see who is behind a prediction and review the author's published tips and performance statistics.

For this reason, we keep the connection between an article and its author visible rather than presenting every expert prediction as if it came from the same source.

Football, Basketball and Tennis Predictions

RatingBet currently publishes predictions across several sports, including football, basketball and tennis.

The general principle remains the same: analyse the available information, identify relevant patterns and statistics, and present a clear prediction. However, the information that matters most can differ considerably between sports.

For football, analysis may place greater emphasis on team form, lineups, tactical matchups, injuries and competition context.

Basketball analysis can involve team and player performance, recent results, scoring trends and matchup-specific statistics.

For tennis, the analysis can focus more heavily on the players' recent form, previous meetings and the circumstances surrounding the particular match.

The result is not intended to force every sport into the same analytical framework.

How to Read a RatingBet Prediction

When reading a mathematical prediction, the key figures to look at are:

Odds → Implied Probability → Similar Historical Odds → Historical WinRate → Mathematical Prediction

Looking at these figures together helps explain what the mathematical prediction is based on and how the historical data relates to the current odds.

When reading an expert prediction, it is useful to look at the whole article rather than only the final pick. The typical structure is:

Author → Match Analysis → Statistics & Trends → Possible Lineups → Our Pick

The information before the final selection provides the context behind the prediction.

What Prediction Statistics Mean

Prediction statistics are useful for understanding historical performance, but they should not be interpreted as a guarantee of future results.

A high WinRate does not mean that the next prediction will necessarily win. Likewise, one unsuccessful prediction does not by itself determine an author's long-term performance.

This is why RatingBet provides the underlying record and prediction history alongside summary statistics. Readers can use the available information to form their own view of an author's results and a particular betting idea.

Predictions are based on information available before the event, while sporting results remain uncertain.

Our Editorial Approach

RatingBet's predictions are part of a wider editorial process. Our Editorial Guidelines explain the principles used across our content and the role of our authors and editorial team.

Our prediction pages are intended to provide analysis, statistics and context rather than certainty about an upcoming result.

If you are interested in how RatingBet evaluates the betting sites themselves, that is covered separately in our Ranking Methodology.

Editorial Independence

RatingBet earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with bookmakers featured on our site. These commercial relationships do not influence which prediction is published, how a match is analysed, or how mathematical predictions are calculated.

Responsible Use of Betting Information

RatingBet provides sports analysis and betting information for informational purposes. A prediction is an opinion or statistical assessment of an uncertain sporting event, not a guarantee of a particular result.

Readers should consider the available information carefully and make their own decisions about whether and how to use it.
