Marta Kostyuk vs Jasmine Paolini Prediction and Betting Tips - July 8, 2026
Wimbledon has reached its decisive stages, and everyone is now just steps away from the title. On July 8, Marta Kostyuk and Jasmine Paolini will face off in the quarterfinals. Here is my prediction for this event.
Marta Kostyuk
The Ukrainian can be considered one of the season’s biggest revelations, although she is simply starting to realize her potential. Kostyuk is already ranked 13th in the world, just a step away from the top 10. She looked brilliant on clay, winning 16 of 17 matches, with titles in Rouen, the Madrid WTA 1000, and a semifinal at Roland Garros.
There were concerns about Wimbledon, as she hadn’t played on grass prior to the tournament due to injury, but she has performed well on this surface too. In the first round, she defeated Argentina’s Podoroska 6-2, 6-1, followed by Anna Blinkova (competing under a neutral flag) 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.
She finally managed to beat American Emma Navarro 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, even though their head-to-head record was previously 0-4 in favor of Navarro. In her last match, Kostyuk overcame another American, Ashlyn Krueger, 6-4, 6-4. This quarterfinal is Kostyuk’s best Wimbledon result so far, but there’s no reason for her to stop here.
Jasmine Paolini
A couple of years ago, Paolini was a consistent top-10 player but is having a weak season now, with her current ranking of 17 still looking rather high. This decline can be explained by her efforts to compete frequently in doubles as well, making it hard to perform at her best in both disciplines.
This Wimbledon has been her best tournament of the season. The Italian started with a tough match against American Montgomery, winning 0-6, 6-4, 7-5. In the second round, she beat Switzerland’s Golubic 7-6, 6-4. Next, she overcame the well-known and experienced Greek, Sakkari, 6-1, 6-4. In her latest match, she got past the tenacious Eala from the Philippines, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Paolini reached the Wimbledon final in 2024, so she certainly has motivation to aim high again.
Head-to-head
The players have met three times, though never on grass. Paolini currently leads 2-1, but their last encounter was three years ago.
Prediction
Two highly motivated players will take the court, with a place in the major semifinals at stake. Kostyuk is in form and is rightfully considered the favorite, while Paolini’s play remains uncertain: she’s performed well here, but her season overall has been lackluster. Even though the Ukrainian isn’t a grass-court specialist, I believe she should advance, but my bet is on over 20.5 games at odds of 1.71.
