Linda Noskova vs Elise Mertens Prediction and Betting Tips – July 8, 2026
On July 8, in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Linda Noskova will face Elise Mertens. Here’s my take on betting for this matchup.
Linda Noskova
The Czech athlete can already be considered experienced, despite being only 21 years old. This season she has had mixed results, lacking consistency at times, although overall she has looked quite good. Notably, she reached the semifinals at Indian Wells and also won a grass-court title in Berlin.
At Wimbledon, Noskova started with a win over Germany’s Seidel – 6:4, 6:3, then defeated Colombia’s Osorio Serrano – 6:3, 4:6, 6:2 in the second round. She had an incredibly tough match against Romanian Cirstea – 2:6, 6:3, 7:6, where she even had to save a match point in the deciding third set. In her last match, the Czech overcame experienced American Madison Keys – 6:4, 7:6. Noskova is ranked 12th in the world and has never made it past the quarterfinals in Grand Slam tournaments.
Elise Mertens
The Belgian athlete is well known to tennis fans, having played at a high level for a long time and currently ranked 27th in the world. Mertens’ main successes have come in doubles, where she has won five Grand Slams and is a former world number one in that discipline.
This season hasn't featured any truly phenomenal performances, though she has managed to win 24 out of 37 matches. At Wimbledon, she began with a win over Germany’s Siegemund – 6:2, 6:4, then overcame Uzbekistan’s Timofeeva – 2:6, 6:3, 6:0. In the third round, the Belgian knocked out world number two Rybakina – 7:6, 6:1, and in her most recent match, defeated Czech Bouzkova – 6:4, 6:4.
Prediction
Although both players have played plenty on tour and are familiar names to fans, they have never faced each other before. Interestingly, they share the same birthday, though Mertens is nine years older. Bookmakers rate the Czech as a slight favorite, and I agree—Noskova is in excellent form right now. I expect an interesting match between two strong players, with the winner facing the strongest of the Kostyuk–Paolini pair. I’m betting on the success of the Czech athlete.
