Kazakhstan will restrict the issuance of loans to gambling addicts
In Kazakhstan, preparations are underway to implement new rules restricting loans to gambling addicts, as reported by LS.
According to the draft resolution, it is proposed to set a maximum coefficient for the share of loan payments for individuals involved in gambling at 25%. This move aims to tighten lending to Kazakhstani citizens who are actively engaged in gambling.
Those falling under this category include individuals who, in the last six months, have made at least three payments totaling at least 300,000 tenge to gambling organizations. Information about such payments is proposed to be obtained through credit bureaus.
Additionally, to mitigate the risks associated with banks' involvement in illegal gambling businesses, the government suggests preventing banks, their employees, and clients from engaging in financial transactions or transfers to electronic and internet casinos. This also applies to individuals under 21 years of age involved in organizing gambling activities.
