Jersey of the new NBA star was sold at auction for $762,000
Jersey worn by San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama in his first NBA game was sold at auction for $762,000, as reported by ESPN.
The source notes that this is the highest price ever paid for a debut jersey in the league. Initially, the lot was expected to be priced between $80,000 to $120,000.
This summer, Wembanyama was selected by the San Antonio Spurs as the overall first pick in the NBA draft. The 19-year-old French player made his league debut on October 25 against the Dallas Mavericks, scoring 15 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and making 2 assists in that game.
It's worth noting that San Antonio has lost 10 consecutive games and currently sits at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
At the same auction, the debut jerseys of Skutt Henderson and Brandon Miller, the second and third picks in the 2023 draft, were also sold for $19,100 and $27,900, respectively.
