For winning the lottery in the USA, scammers generated their own code
In the USA, scammers devised their own code to win the lottery.
According to The Sun, an employee at the Lottery Association in the American state of Iowa programmed a computer to connect it to the lottery's random number generator. This enabled him to generate his own codes and win the lottery.
He won two prizes due to his scheme, while his brother managed to hit the jackpot ten years ago. However, the scammer himself never received his jackpot; he was arrested in January 2015 and charged with two counts of fraud, for which he received up to ten years in prison, being found guilty on both counts.
However, after a successful hearing for parole, he was released in July 2022.
It is noted that two other individuals also won jackpots using the same scheme. They won £13 million with a lucky ticket.
