2.3% of Germans suffer from gambling addiction
The Federal Government Commissioner for Drug Addiction and Drugs published a report providing insights into gambling in the country.
The report is based on experts' publications from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies on Drug Addiction and Drugs and the Department of Gambling Research at the University of Bremen, in collaboration with the German Center for Addiction Issues.
One of the main indicators in the report indicates that 2.3 percent (1.3 million) of Germany's population suffers from gambling addiction, accounting for approximately 7.7 percent of all players in the country.
Besides the previously stated figure of 2.3 percent, four out of 10 players using gaming machines are affected by gambling addiction. Moreover, there has been a significant increase in demand for outpatient assistance from online players over the past five years.
